What Moses And Gideon Both Got Wrong

Last week we talked about ginóskō.

The knowing that is intimate. Relational. The kind that existed before you had a name.

This week I want to talk about what the enemy does with that.

Because here is his playbook, and it has never changed.

God calls. You list your disqualifications. God says He already knew. You list more disqualifications.

Sound familiar?

Look at the Pattern

Moses at the burning bush: “Who am I to go to Pharaoh?” (Exodus 3:11)

Gideon is threshing wheat in a hole so the Midianites will not see him when an angel shows up and says: “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” And Gideon's response: “Pardon me, my lord, but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?” (Judges 6:12–13)

Jeremiah: “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.” (Jeremiah 1:6)

Every single time, God's response is the same thing.

I know.

I knew before I called you.

The calling was not issued before God checked the credentials. The credentials were built into the design before the call was placed. The assignment came first. Then He made the person to match it.

You are not the person who got called by accident and now God is hoping you figure it out.

You are the person God knew before the foundation of the world and then wired, on purpose, with the exact combination of design, experience, story, and access that this moment required.

The Enemy Is Not Attacking Your Performance

This is the part most people miss.

The enemy does not primarily attack your ability.

He attacks your identity.

Because if he can get you to believe you are not the right person, you will disqualify yourself before he even has to fight.

That is the whole strategy. Get you to do his work for him.

Not enough. Not qualified. Too old. Too young. Too many mistakes. Not educated enough. Not spiritual enough. Not whatever enough.

He has been running that same play since Genesis. It still works because most believers have never fully settled the question of who made them and why.

When that question is settled, ginóskō becomes your operating system.

You stop filtering every opportunity through the voice that says not enough and start filtering through the One who said before I formed you in the womb I knew you.

That changes everything.

What Getting There Actually Requires

I will be honest with you.

Settling this is not a one-time decision. It is a daily practice. It is a posture.

And it is something that gets reinforced when you are in community with people who are running the same direction, holding the same truth, and refusing to let the voice win unchallenged.

You were not designed to hold this alone. We will talk more about that next week. But I want you thinking about it now.

Because the God Designed Living Collective exists for exactly this reason. People who are doing the actual work of understanding how God wired them, why He placed them in this season, and how to show up for what is in front of them.

Not cheerleading. Not spiritual hype. Real community, real tools, real people running toward the same thing.

More on that next week. But if you have been feeling the pull already, that is worth paying attention to.

Start with the Fear Compass if you have not taken it. It shows you which fear has been bending you out of your design and handing the enemy an easy assist.

Our team at Chris & Prudence Ministries would love to stand with you in prayer. Whatever you are carrying right now, submit it here:

You are not disqualified.

You were designed.

Onward, Chris Behnke

P.S. Next week might be the most important one in this series. We are going to look at Mordecai's words to Esther from an angle most people miss. He was not pressuring her. He was revealing something. Don't forget to look for the ravens.
