Breaking Through The LIDS In Our Lives

What’s Holding You Back?
Ever feel like you’re hitting an invisible ceiling in your life? Like you KNOW there’s more—more impact, more growth, more breakthrough—but something’s keeping you stuck? Yeah, me too. And guess what? There is something keeping you stuck. But it’s not what you think.
It’s called a LID—a false belief, a wrong mindset, or even the wrong relationships that keep you from stepping into the season God has for you. The enemy is a master manipulator, and one of his favorite tricks is to keep you trapped under a LID you don’t even realize is there.
So let’s rip that thing off. Today, we’re talking about three major LIDS that hold us back: Identity, Relationships, and Faith.
LID #1: Identity—Who Do You Think You Are?
Your identity is the foundation of everything. If the enemy can get you to believe a lie about who you are, he can derail your purpose before you even get started.
Look at Jeremiah. God says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” And Jeremiah responds, “Uhh, no thanks. I’m just a kid. I can’t do that.” But God shuts it down: “Do NOT say you are just a youth. You will go where I send you, and you will speak what I command you.” (Jeremiah 1:5-7)
See, the enemy wants you to doubt yourself. He whispers, “You’re not ready. You’re not qualified. Someone else is better.” And if you listen? You stay stuck under that LID.
But here’s the truth: God ALREADY equipped you for your calling. The question isn’t whether you’re ready—the question is, are you willing?
LID #2: Relationships—Who’s In Your Circle?
Ever notice how Jesus spent most of His time with just twelve guys? And even within that, He had an inner circle of three? That wasn’t an accident.
Not everyone in your life is meant to go with you where God is leading you. Some relationships are meant for a season, but if you hold onto them too long, they become a LID.
Look at Abraham—God told him to leave his country, his family, and go to a new land. But what did he do? He brought Lot. And guess what? Lot became a LOT of trouble. (See what I did there?)
Here’s the hard truth: Sometimes, breakthrough means walking away from what’s familiar. Not because you don’t love people, but because obedience to God requires it. So ask yourself: Who in your life is speaking faith into you? Who is pulling you back? If you’re serious about your calling, your circle matters.
LID #3: Faith—Do You Actually Believe?
Here’s a wild thought: What if the biggest thing holding you back isn’t the enemy—but your own doubt?
Remember the father in Mark 9? His son was tormented by a demon, and he begged Jesus, “If you can do anything, help us.” And Jesus fires back: “IF I CAN? All things are possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:23)
Boom. That’s it right there. The LID of doubt keeps you from stepping into your next level. It’s why the enemy attacks your faith—because he knows that if you actually start believing, the game is over for him.
Think about Roger Bannister. Scientists said it was physically impossible to break the 4-minute mile. And yet, once he did? Within a year, multiple runners broke the same barrier. Why? Because the real LID was their belief.
So let me ask you: What impossible thing has God been nudging you toward? What promise are you struggling to believe?
It’s time to rip that LID off and step into your next season.
Breaking The LID—Your Next Steps
Listen, the enemy wants you stuck. God wants you free. So today, you choose. Will you let the LID define you—or will you break through?

- Reject the enemy’s narrative – Call it out and replace it with what God actually says.
- Take a step of faith – Bold moves break LIDS. What’s one thing you can do today to step forward?
Listen, the enemy wants you stuck. God wants you free. So today, you choose. Will you let the LID define you—or will you break through?
Let me know in the comments: What’s one LID you’re breaking through right now?
Declaration: Prayer to Break Through LIDS
Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name. I declare that every LID in my life is broken. I reject the lies of the enemy that tell me I’m not enough, I’m not ready, or I can’t do what You’ve called me to do. I step fully into my God-given identity. I surround myself with people who speak life into me. And I choose to believe that nothing is impossible with You. Today, I walk in faith. Today, I break through. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
